netsikker nu! is a national campaign that provide guidance and information on security issues related to internet use.

With an annual week of activities and a continuous stream of information on the security problems related to internet use, the netsikker nu! campaign encourages Danes to pay attention to security issues when using the internet. The campaign is supported by the Danish Ministry of Science.

The purpose of the netsikker nu! campaign is to ensure a secure and confident use of IT. The campaign has sought to create a breeding ground for a profound culture of IT security in Denmark.

Privacy on The Internet
The misuse of personal information on the internet is an increasing problem. Therefore, it is important to be careful who you give your personal information. These guidelines will help you protect your personal information:

1) Handle both your own and other people’s personal information with care.
Be sure to have the approval from others before you publish their pictures or information on the internet.
2) Use the privacy settings in the social networking communities.
Remember that it is up to you to decide who gets access to your personal information.
3) Protect your personal information and pictures by reassessing and deleting your personal information.

Updating Your PC
The lack of updated programmes is a great security concern that can lead to unauthorised access to your personal information. Keep your computer updated by using the automatic program update function, effective anti-virus software and a firewall, to avoid intruders.

Private and Public Cooperation
The netsikker nu! Campaign is arranged by the Danish Ministry of Science with the Science minister, Helge Sander at the front. To provide a broad foundation for the campaign, The Ministry of Science cooperates with external partners from the business community, public councils and various organisations.

Besides informative seminars and workshops, the netsikker nu! campaign provides a large amount of information material, including printed leaflets, a campaign magazine and video productions.
